Get Involved
NGP RIDR is built on partnership. If you work with drought-affected communities, manage water or land resources, or develop tools for drought assessment — we want to hear from you.
How to Engage
Listening Sessions and Workshops
Throughout 2026, NGP RIDR solution teams are hosting stakeholder listening sessions and working sessions to gather input on challenges, priorities, and potential solutions. These build on existing forums where possible — we’re bringing RIDR conversations into spaces where partners already gather.
Upcoming engagements include:
- National Coordinated Soil Moisture Monitoring Network (NCSMN) Forum — June 9–11, 2026
- American Association of State Climatologists (AASC) Annual Meeting — June 24–26, 2026
- FALCON Workshop — November 6–8, 2026 · Kansas City, MO

Timeline
NGP RIDR Phase I runs through January 2027, with a focus on stakeholder engagement, co-production, and building the foundation for a Phase II implementation proposal. Here’s where we are:
| Phase | Period | Focus |
|---|---|---|
| Phase 1 — Information Gathering | Feb 2026 – Jan 2027 | Listening sessions, working groups, solution refinement |
| Phase 2 — Synthesis | Jan 2027 | In-person leadership meeting; synthesis across all five solutions |
| Phase 3 — Proposal Development | Mar – Sep 2027 | Writing and review of Phase II implementation proposal |
Phase II (if funded) will provide up to $15 million over five years to deploy the regional drought assessment system at scale.
